Wednesday, August 13th, 2014

The 12th annual Ford Neighborhood Awards were last weekend, August 8-10, in Atlanta. The awards seek to recognize people and businesses that make a difference in their community.

Award categories included Best High School Coach, Nail Salon, School Teacher, Car Wash/Detail Shop, Church Choir, Soul Food Place, Barber Shop, High School, Barbecue Place, Beauty Salon, Church, and Community Leader.

These people/businesses were nominated by their peers, and four finalists were selected in each category. Voting was then opened to the public to select the winner in each category.

A star-studded cast of celebrities presented the awards, and the event was hosted by Steve Harvey, comedian and host of the popular TV show Family Feud.

As the title sponsor of the awards, Ford gave the winner for Best Community Leader $30,000 to donate to his charity of choice. The winner was Stan Richards of Washington, DC.

“The Ford Neighborhood Awards continues to represent a mainstay within the African American community,” said Shawn Thompson, manager of Ford multicultural marketing. “Each year this show gets bigger, and Ford is excited to be able to present the Community Leader of the Year Award recipient with a check for $30,000 to ultimately give back to the local community.”

Subaru Breaks Guinness World Record!

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

Breaking a world record is quite the feat and something that a lot of people have on their bucket list. And well, now Subaru can check that one off the list! Earlier this month 371 Subaru owners got together in the village of Itasca, Illinois and broke the record for “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars.” Sure, it’s a little bit of a wacky record, but they did it!

According to a recent press release by Subaru, “On Saturday, July 13, 2013, 371 Subaru owners from nine states broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ record for the “Largest Parade of Subaru Cars” in the world. In addition to breaking the record, Subaru and parade participants supported two very worthy charities — PAWS Chicago and Salute, Inc. Both organizations received $5,000 to support their individual areas of philanthropy.”

So basically it was just a great day for everyone. Money was raised for two great causes, and a world record was broken. How cool is that?

If you’re interested in buying a Subaru so that you can take part in the next parade (if they ever want to raise the bar), stop by Hassett Automotive! We have lots of Subaru’s in stock and we would love to help you find the right one for you.

We hope to see you soon!

5 Things You can Learn From Your First Car

Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

It’s that time of the year again! College seniors all over the country are getting ready to graduate and move on to a new chapter of life. What an exciting time! It’s a time of making new friends, settling into a new job, and probably getting your very first car. Now, we may not have too much advice to offer on making new friends or finding your first job, but we sure know a lot about cars. So without further ado, we would like to share with you a few things you can learn from your first car:

Self-Reliance. Whether you’re figuring out how to change your windshield wipers, learning to check your oil, or popping out a dent, it’s all up to you now. You may have had your dad, or some other mentor to help you with these things growing up, but that’s probably not the case anymore. Think back to all the things you learned growing up and trust yourself.

Selflessness. Cars present a great opportunity to put your own interests aside and help someone else. Don’t be afraid to volunteer to drive, or even jump-start someone in need.

Budgeting. This is perhaps the best lesson your first car can teach you. Filling up your gas tank, paying for insurance, and being ready for unforeseen repairs is now something you need to plan for financially. My best advice when it comes to a budget is – be realistic.

Responsibility. Anytime you are driving a car with others on board, you have their lives in your hand. Sure, it may seem a little dramatic, but it’s true. Never forget how responsibility you have when driving someone else, and please, please, PLEASE – never text and drive.

Joy. Lastly, enjoy your first car. It truly is a joy to have the ability to drive wherever you want, whenever you want. Love it. Find a cool road. Go for a long road trip.

If you’re a recent graduate, or are about to graduate, Hassett Automotive would love to help you pick out your first car. Stop by today! Any one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales team members would love to help you out.

Hassett Automotive Proud To Take Part In Sharing the Love

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

Every December Subaru does a sales event called the “Share the Love” event. Some of you have probably heard about this event, but just in case you haven’t, let us tell you! Basically, Subaru has five charities picked out that they will donate $250 to for every vehicle purchased or leased while the “Share the Love” Event is going on. Those charities are the Alzheimer’s Association, ASPCA, the Make a Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels, and the USO.

And now, thanks to more than 100,000 new owners and over 620 Subaru dealerships, Subaru has now donated nearly $25 million to charity!

Hassett Automotive is proud to have been a part of this great accomplishment, and we would like to thank everyone that purchased or leased a new Subaru from Hassett Subaru during the “Share the Love” Event. Because of you and the choice that you made, someone’s day was made a little brighter. We’re already looking forward to being a part of this great event later this year!

If you’re interested in learning more about this event, or if you have any questions about a Subaru vehicle, feel free to stop by Hassett Automotive, or give us a call at 866-525-9066.

Every Long Islander suffered in one way or another from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, including all of us at Hassett Automotive of Wantagh. The one heartening aspect of this deadly storm was the way people across the Island came together to help each other get through those cold, dark days. Of course, our hearts go out to those still suffering in Sandy’s aftermath, along with hopes for a quick recovery.

At Hassett, we’re making it easier for our customers, and others, who experienced damage to, or the total loss of, their car, truck, or SUV during the storm — some suffered multiple vehicle losses —to get back on the road. We call it our “Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief” programs, and they’ve been set up to make it more affordable to replace vehicles that are no longer operable.

“Anyone who’s been affected can get immediate assistance at Hassett, “ says Lou Evans, General Sales Manager for Hassett Ford of Wantagh. “This is over and above all the other incentives we always offer. “If your vehicle was ruined by Hurricane Sandy, you can come into Hassett now to receive up to an extra $1,000 in disaster relief bonus cash on any new Ford or Lincoln in our huge inventory. For those who want to purchase or lease a new or certified pre-owned Subaru, we’re offering $500 in disaster relief. And all our vehicles are available for immediate delivery. We know we can’t undo all of what this terrible storm did, but we can make replacing your vehicle easier, and less expensive.” (more…)

A couple weeks ago we posted a picture in our blog and on our social media sites letting people know that Hassett Automotive is helping Hurricane Sandy victims by offering $500 off your new car if your car was damaged in the storm. Well, we wanted to let you all know that we have decided to step it up a little bit, and we are now offering up to $1,000 off new Ford or Lincoln vehicles if your car was damaged by Sandy. This offer is only good on new Ford or Lincolns.

Subaru, on the other hand, is offering $500 off the purchase or lease of any new or certified pre-owned Subaru.

The bottom line is Hassett is here to help. If your car was lost or damaged as a result of Hurricane Sandy, come to Hassett Automotive. We would love to help you find a new car for you and your family.

Go Further With Ford Night is Tomorrow!!

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

If you haven’t yet heard, the 2013 Ford Fusion will be delivered to dealerships across the nation tomorrow, November 15th, and participating Ford dealers, such as Hassett Automotive, will be hosting a “Go Further With Ford” night. What’s this event all about? We’re glad you asked!

Perhaps the most obvious benefit of going to this event is, of course, finally getting to see the all new 2013 Ford Fusion on person. But there are a couple other reasons why everyone should come out to Hassett tomorrow night. First, for every person who stops by and takes a test drive, Hassett will make a donation to Habitat for Humanity. And second, everyone that comes to this event will be entered into a drawing for a chance to WIN an all-new 2013 Ford Fusion. What do you have to lose?

Check out this video below for a little more information on what this night is all about:

See you tomorrow night!

“OUT OF GAS AND LOVING IT”: An Electric Love Affair!

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Everyone remembers what it felt like wanting to be “the first kid on your block” to get the hottest new…whatever. So just imagine how great Whit Gallman feels being the first person in his home state of North Carolina to own the revolutionary 2012 Ford Focus Electric. And one of less than a handful on the entire East Coast!

There was an obstacle or two for Whit to overcome in his quest. To begin with, only a very few dealerships nationwide were able to order it this past February. So Whit went online and discovered that Hassett  of Wantagh could take his order, and soon he was talking with Internet Manager Tom Cinelli. “He was really excited about being able to order the new Focus Electric,” Tom recalls, “and thrilled to have found a dealership who could get it for him. Hassett was part of a very select group of dealerships in New York and California Ford was allowing to place orders, in fact the only one in the entire Northeastern United States at the time.”
